History of Volvo Electrified Cars

VOLVO EV & Hybrid Cars Manuals PDF above the page.

The first successful results in the development of eco-cars appeared in 2007. Based on the Volvo C30 hatchback, a concept has been developed that works on electric traction.

Let's note the fact that here, too, the engineers of the Swedish company did not follow the beaten track of competitors, but approached the creation of an electric car with their own unique approach.

For example, the electric motor of this hybrid did not work as an additional plug-in unit, but as a completely independent engine with a power reserve of 100 km.

Thus, short distances could be covered exclusively on electric traction. Statistics claimed that the regular use of the Volvo C30 Recharge, compared to an analogue with an internal combustion engine, would reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 70%.

In 2015, the company introduced the next production eco-car Volvo V60 PHEV - a plug-in hybrid of the new generation with an electric motor designed for 32 km of autonomous driving with a full charge of batteries.

Another member of Volvo's green segment is the flagship XC 90 T8 PHEV SUV, the brand's first luxury hybrid vehicle.
