In 2012, sales of the Lexus GS450h hybrid sedan began in a new version. The car complements the 4th-generation GS lineup with the rear-wheel-drive GS250 and all-wheel drive GS350 AWD.

In the GS range, the hybrid model stands out with its 3 LED headlights and a rear bumper that covers the tailpipe openings. The new GS450h can be distinguished by the blue “HYBRID” nameplates on the front, back and sides.

The model is powered by a 3.5-liter Atkinson-cycle engine with a 13:1 compression ratio, which comes to the rescue at the right time with an electric motor.

The latter can work both in economy mode and in sports mode: the choice is up to the driver and the new Drive Mode system. The batteries are still nickel-metal hydride.

Three trim levels Premium, Luxury, F Sport Luxury provide a choice from the standard model to the top version with improved sports performance.

The Premium equipment includes: bi-xenon headlights with washers, front foglights, LED running lights, 235/45 R18 wheels on alloy wheels; heated and electric side mirrors, plus electric and heated front seats, glass and steering column, as well as the trunk lid; climate control system, 12-speaker audio system, 12.3-inch LCD monitor with reversing camera and navigation, leather interior. In addition, the list of basic equipment includes rain and light sensors, heated washer nozzles.

The Luxury version features LED headlights, heated steering wheel and rear seats, a 17-speaker Mark Levinson premium audio system, and three-zone climate control.

In the F Sport Luxury version, the buyer gets an exclusive design package with a sports body kit, aluminum inserts, pedal and side skirts, a rear spoiler, and a sports suspension.

The GS450h hybrid system, consisting of an Atkinson-cycle V6 gasoline engine and an electric motor, develops 345 hp. At the same time, the gasoline engine delivers a maximum torque of 368 Nm, and the electric motor - 275 Nm.

Due to the presence of a continuously variable transmission, the torque is transmitted to the wheels without breaking - a constant energy flow and provides acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 5.9 seconds and a maximum speed of 250 km / h.

At high speeds, the two-stage geared motor smoothly shifts to an overdrive, which provides additional fuel savings - its average consumption is 6.1 l / 100 km.

The GS450h suspension is completely independent. In the most dynamic version of the GS 450h F SPORT Luxury, the vehicle is equipped with variable ratio steering and dynamic rear-wheel steering, making it the world's first hybrid car with 4-wheel steering.
