BMW iX3 will be assembled for all markets in which the electric car is planned to be sold in China - at a joint venture between BMW and Brilliance.

Full-scale production will begin in late summer, but prototypes of the crossover have been assembled here since the middle of last year, and more than two hundred have already rolled off the assembly line.

The X3 family has been selected as the first model for which BMW will offer a full range of powertrains - petrol, diesel, hybrid and all-electric versions.

The iX3 itself has not yet been fully declassified, but the manufacturer has officially announced that it will equip the SUV with a 5th-generation eDrive powerplant - it is lighter and more compact than its predecessors. And the new batteries will provide the crossover with a range of up to 440 km.

it was previously reported that the basic modification of the iX3 will receive one electric motor on the rear axle, which develops 286 hp. and 400 Nm of torque.

In 2021, BMW will release more powerful twin-engine modifications, but by that time sales of the iX3 with one engine will have already begun: it is planned to bring the electric car to the market before the end of the year.

The list of regions in which the off-road vehicle will appear has not yet been made public, but it is highly likely that China and Europe will be included.
